If you want home and body care products that are safer for you, your family and our world - you’ve come to the right place.
Our story
Malcolm and Melanie Rands founded ecostore on New Zealand’s lush, subtropical Northland coast in 1993. Part of a group that created an eco-village nestled in a valley dotted with streams and surrounded by native forest, the Rands set out to make their home as clean and green as the land they called home.
By creating hardworking, highly effective products for people and their home, removing harmful or unnecessary chemicals, the ecostore ethos has always been to put people’s health first and gave them the choice to live clean.
From one New Zealand family to another – the Rands passed the baton to the Kraus family in 2013. Now led by Pablo Kraus, our goal is to be the world’s most trusted eco-friendly home and body care brand.
Today we continue to proudly develop, manufacture and pack our household cleaners, laundry, body care, skincare, baby care and oral care products at our own Toitū net carbonzero certified factory in Auckland and share them with the world.
Safer for you
Our plant and mineral-based products let you and your family choose a better tomorrow, and keep harmful chemicals out of your home. It’s hard to know what’s in the products you buy every day to care for your skin or to clean your home, which is why we’ve worked really hard to make safer products you can trust.
Although we have access to thousands of ingredients, we are guided by the precautionary principle. If there’s any doubt about an ingredient’s safety, we’ll look for a safer alternative.
Kinder to the planet
From ingredient sourcing to our own Toitū net carbonzero certified factory and renewable sugar plastic packaging, we’re kinder to the planet at every step – and constantly improving our processes to save energy and resources, and reduce waste. We choose sustainable, biodegradable plant and mineral-based ingredients over petrochemicals. Each product is also compatible with septic tanks and gray water systems.
Sugar plastic
Our sugar plastic bottles made from sugarcane reduce your carbon footprint and are 100% recyclable through municipal facilities.
By choosing products packaged in sugar plastic bottles, you’re helping to protect the environment for future generations. That’s because they’re made from a renewable, sustainable alternative to petroleum-based plastic that fights climate change by capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere as it grows.
We also use recyclable FSC cardboard to package our laundry detergent powder, soaps, skincare and oral care ranges.
